My 5 pound Pomeranian that I adopted together with her sister Kylie during the height of Covid. The good news is I got him back the same day. And I want to share how I went about my retrieval mission. As soon as I noticed Bear was missing, I checked the entire house, opened all doors and closets while hollering his name.(By the way, Stella my Maltese poodle mix and Kylie, also a Pomeranian were no help at all). I then dashed out of the house with my mobile phone with Bear’s photos and went around the neighborhood calling out his name. A couple of neighbors did see sightings of him so I knew he did get out. I went back home, printed flyers with his latest photo, my mobile number with the words LOST DOG in big bold letters. I put up the flyers around the gates of our community, all stop signs and all poop stations. I also gave it out to my neighbors who were up and about. Then I emailed my HOA the same flyer, to send an email blast to all homeowners. I called the microchip company to send out a BOLO (be on the look out). Did you know your microchip company sends out an email blasts to all rescues, shelters, veterinary clinics, and private citizens within a 25 mile radius of the area your pet was last seen? So, make sure you have your pet’s chip number handy since that’s the first thing they would ask. Within 3 hours, a vet clinic personnel called the microchip company and my contact details were given to them and the person who picked up my dog. It was my neighbor 2 houses down who found him and we were soon reunited. With a lost pet, time is of the essence and keeping your pet’s chip up to date is your best chance to getting him or her safely home.
