Abacoa & Alton Neighbors - April 2021

MEET Beth Nguyen of Tipsy Salonbar By Heather Storm Beth Nguyen has been in the salon business since she can remember. After selling the family’s salon in Arkansas and moving to Florida, Beth started the first Tipsy Salonbar in the Jupiter area in 2008 and felt an instant connection with the community. While her siblings moved on to medical and dental school, she wanted to create a concept that could make the salon experience more fun and distinctly South Florida. 16 years later and 20 more locations across the state, the business is still about the experience and the family behind it. At its center is the unstoppable Beth Nguyen, who is a medical school graduate herself but has focused her many talents on the salon business and the clients and staff that have become family over the years. Just ask her many loyal clients who have followed her since she opened her first salon. Sure Tipsy is a clever name and the bar concept is unique and has spawned a whole class of copycat concepts across the industry, but at its core it’s always been about family. Fast forward to 2021 and the brand-new location in Downtown at the Gardens. Beth is bringing her concept that has spread over the state back close to her home in Palm Beach Gardens where she has lived since 2017. Now married with two children, life has changed a lot from those early days, but as her family has grown alongside her businesses it feels especially good to be bringing Tipsy to the community her family loves to call home. Tipsy thrives in the industry by taking medical standards and applying it to the everyday operation of the salon. By offering a full line of personal care services, clients can take advantage of the sanitized environment to relax while utilizing a full line of hair color and styling options, any nail service required, multiple spa services including medical spa offerings such as IV hydration, Cool Sculpting, and Botox. Even teeth whitening can be conveniently facilitated during a therapeutic pedicure in the plush massage chairs. Oh and don’t forget to enjoy a glass of wine or the famous lychee mimosa known affectionately as the “Lychee-mosa”. As the community has grown in northern Palm Beach County, so too has the need for additional shopping centers and businesses in the area. While Downtown at the Gardens is undergoing a beautiful transformation and update, Beth has also grown her own business to include a sister salon company called Selfie Nailbar in the Alton Town Center. “Selfie gives us a new opportunity to do exciting things in the business that have never been done. We focus on the client interaction and allow people to expand and share their experiences with friends all over their social media. It also gives us a chance to play around with new designs and product lines while keeping the same standards and the experience we have from over 30 years in the business,” Beth gushes with her infectious energy. Once you meet Beth and get a chance to experience her hospitality you soon realize that anything this woman puts her mind to has no choice but to set the new standard in the industry.
