22 Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S | A u g u s t 2 0 2 0 staff and coordinates the operation for a tournament that welcomes the world’s best golfers, 1600 volunteers, and over 200,000 fans. The ultimate mission of the event is philanthropy through Honda Classic Cares – which has provided over $50 million in charitable giving to local non-profits since the inception of the tournament. Alexandra earned her B.S. in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and went on to achieve her Masters in Counselor Education, Mental Health & Rehabilitation there as well. She is now a Case Coordinator for General Dynamics Information Technology, and works directly with unaccompanied minors, including human trafficking victims, who are under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)/US Department of Health & Human Services. She assists minors’ development of appropriate skills to enter adulthood and to achieve social self-sufficiency. They are an active family – Alexandra and Andrew (both athletes throughout high school and college) play adult league soccer and occasionally enjoy nights out dancing. Most people think Andrew’s job naturally lends itself to playing a lot of golf, but if they have free moments, they try to spend as much time as they can around the house and community with the kids. Andrew is a loyal follower of the Iowa Hawkeyes and has attempted to convert the whole family… the rest of the crew loves how calm he is during Hawkeye football games - (insert sarcasm here). The two oldest kids are “on- the-go” and enjoy playing soccer, basketball, fishing in the community waterways, water balloon fights, swimming, and exploring the greenway trails to see gopher turtles – affectionately known as weekly “turtle walks”. During the quarantine, they eagerly watched the caterpillar to butterfly lifecycle happen (8 in total) on milkweed plants and “patiently” took turns releasing the butterflies from the balcony. Evan enjoys sports, especially fishing and golf and loves mini golfing or practicing at the driving range – as well as playing tour guide for the family at Lion Country Safari or the Palm Beach Zoo. Mila is into performing arts and more often than not you can catch her on the front porch dressed as Princess Elsa, singing songs from Frozen II or creating new dance routines to showcase for Mom and Dad. Destined to make an entrance, Mila was born in the middle of Hurricane Irma - thank goodness Jupiter Medical Center is right down the street! RESIDENT FEATURE
