Both were studying medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico when they were introduced to each other. Soon after, the couple moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico where Brian continued his medical studies and upon graduating from medical school, they made the trek to St. Paul, Minnesota. It was there that Brian realized that if Jessica (a native of Puerto Rico) could endure the dramatic climate changes and long, cold winters in Minnesota, they could make it through anything. The two married shortly after in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Jessica grew up in Puerto Rico and attended high school and college there. After graduating college, she went to medical school in Guadalajara, MX. She graduated from Guadalajara with a medical degree. Currently she is working as a clinical documentation specialist at Good Samaritan Medical Center. In addition, Jessica has been involved with several medical mission trips to Latin American countries and hopes to continue that work. Brian grew up in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. He then went on to undergrad at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. From there he started medical school in Guadalajara. After Brian discovered his love for orthopedic surgery, he then transferred to Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. After he graduated from medical school, he then completed 2 years of orthopedic research at the University of Minnesota, involving orthopedic trauma and scapula fractures.
