She completed an additional one year surgical residency specifically for physician assistants at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut, affiliated with Yale School of Medicine. She then joined Craig in Manhattan, where she worked at NYU Langone Medical Center specializing in orthopedic surgery, followed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, working in plastic surgery. When the couple moved to Florida, Amy worked in private practice plastic surgery. Since moving to Palm Beach Gardens, Amy and Craig have gotten very involved in the community with various organizations, such as their daughter’s preschool PTO at Temple Beth David. Amy is a member of and volunteer for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, and has been busily working with their South Florida chapter on upcoming events and fundraisers. She is also involved with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. Craig serves on the board of the Young Professionals of Palm Beach North. Craig has a love of Peloton, fine bourbon, and home cooking. Amy loves the Peloton, but prefers wine and ordering in. Hailing from two fiercely competitive sports cities and attending two different Big Ten universities, they cannot find any teams to agree on. Thankfully, one thing Craig and Amy actually have in common is they are big “phans” of the jam band Phish. They have seen the band live countless times (sometimes 4 nights in a row!), and have traveled across the country to partake in the festivities. It is something they share with their closest friends and one of their favorite sources of fun and entertainment. If the couple had a family motto, it would have to be a quote by Phish: “Just relax, you’re doing fine,” keyboardist Page McConnell sings. Craig explains, “The pandemic has upended our normal lives, and will likely continue to do so. Work is different. School is different. Moms and Dads are finding themselves in roles they never signed up for. If we all empathize and care for each other, we will emerge from this a stronger and better society. We may even be surprised what we are capable of!” The Forleiters are embracing their new community in Alton as Craig embarks on his career with Lickstein Plastic Surgery. Newly relocated here in June, they love the location, the new construction, the amenities, and that there are so many young families living here. “There are so many other young families with children and dogs always out and about. Even with COVID, people are out walking and on the playgrounds.
