Abacoa & Alton Neighbors December 2020

D e c e m b e r 2 0 2 0 | Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S 23 can tell everyone is friendly, despite wearing masks and trying to keep their distance. In New York City, we lived on top of our neighbors and never spoke to them. That’s a very NYC “thing.” In Florida, we have already become good friends with our neighbors – it’s better this way,” the couple says. They say opposites attract, and Amy and Craig are no exception. Beyond their different tastes in hobbies and sports, Amy is more of an introvert and Craig enjoys the spotlight. During Craig’s general surgery years in Manhattan, he was featured on ABC’s hit series, “NY Med,” chronicling his day to day life as a busy surgery resident. The cameras followed him around from the wards to the Emergency Department to the operating room. “It was so much fun for all of our family and friends to get a sneak peek into that world.” Despite having been on television, ironically, the thing that drew Craig to plastic surgery wasn’t the side of plastic surgery that is often depicted on TV. “Everybody has their preconceived notion of what a plastic surgeon does, but the truth is, there is a lot more variety than many people realize. Whether stitching a child with a dog bite, reconstructing someone’s breast or face after a cancer surgery, or trying to reverse the effects of age and gravity - every day is different for a plastic surgeon. We work on all ages and all body parts. We are lovers of anatomy and art, and the complex interplay between both. As much as we love to be in the operating room, we are also lovers of technology and innovation and have the latest nonsurgical gizmos and gadgets to help our patients look and feel their best, whether they are visiting us for reconstructive or cosmetic reasons. If something is bothering you and you want to know what options are out there, you should definitely schedule a visit. Even just talking about a new diagnosis or a problem area of the body with someone, and knowing there are treatments, can go a long way toward beginning the healing process.” The Forleiters haven’t been in Palm Beach Gardens long, but they speak so highly of the neighborhood already. Beaming with pride, Amy states, “We always thought we’d return back to the northeast after Craig finished training, but we fell in love with South Florida and seized the opportunity to raise Madison in a community like this.” “Just relax, you’re doing fine,” Craig smiles.
