Abacoa & Alton Neighbors Febuary 2021
F e b r u a r y 2 0 2 1 | Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S 11 “If you are to do one thing for yourself it is the Halo Sciton Laser.” This quote was made by a Lickstein Plastic Surgery Practice patient of almost a decade. Dr. Lickstein and I found this to be such a powerful quote, as this patient has undergone regular botox and filler treatments under my care, and last year underwent a lower face and necklift with Dr. Lickstein. Since, she has experienced the entire nonsurgical “Lickstein Lift” over eight years and most recently undergone a lower face and neck lift, we feel we can deem her the “expert”. What is the Halo Laser? The Halo Sciton Laser is the world’s first Hybrid Fractional Laser that delivers non-ablative and ablative wavelenths to the same microscopic treatment zone with minimal discomfort and downtime. In short, this amazing Hybrid technology works simultaneously on the skin’s surface and its deeper layers to stimulate collagen. How does the Halo compare to IPL/BBL lasers or CO2 and Resurfacing lasers? Often when laser is discussed or mentioned with patients, I believe they immediately envision an “IPL/BBL/ photofacial”, which only treats the skins surface, or Fraxel/CO2/Resurfacing laser, which would require at least two weeks of downtime. The Halo falls nicely in the middle. The Halo is able to treat the skin surface and pigment, while delivering a deeper injury that does not break the skin, allowing for minimal downtime and discomfort. This laser is safe for all skin types. What can I expect at the time of the treatment and after? Patients present to the office about thirty minutes prior to procedure for topical numbing. The treatment takes about thirty minutes. During the treatment patients experience minimal discomfort. Patients post treatment experience is the sensation of heat that persists for about an hour. The recovery after is 3-5 days of swelling, best referred to as the “cabbage patch face” and “peppering”. The results may initially be noticed at about two weeks for skin pigment improvement, but take 6-8 for pores, skin texturing, collagen and the “Halo Glow”. Am I a candidate for this treatment? Yes. The Halo is safe for all skin types and is a great yearly anti-aging investment. Man or woman, young or older, fair to olive skin tone all can benefit from what the Halo offers. It is best to have the treatment when you do not have a tan or plan to be in the sun. It is best to undergo filler injections following the halo. Botox or other neurotoxin treatments may be performed two weeks prior, but no closer to treatment. Having twelve years of experience providing rejuvenation treatments for my patients, and currently serving as Clinical Director of our Medical Spa, If I had to choose only one procedure to have done yearly, out of everything Lickstein Plastic Surgery offers, I would choose the Halo.
