Their relationship grew on the golf course and through frequent meetings at the south campus of Christ Fellowship, where they were later married in 2000. Susan says she knew that he was the one when they flew to Washington State together for a ski trip. She loved sitting next to him on the airplane and she recalls thinking, “I could fly with him anywhere. I knew he was the one.” John attended Sacramento City College where he was drafted multiple times by Major League Baseball teams and went on to receive full scholarship offers throughout the country, selecting Pepperdine University over the University of Miami and the University of Texas at Austin. Upon completion at Pepperdine, John was drafted and signed with the Montreal Expos. There he played three years - resulting in being named Topps Baseball Cards “Player of the Year” and a Florida State League All-Star as second baseman. After baseball, John worked in management for UPS for 30 years and retired 6 years ago. The Damon’s now call Martinique home. As big fans of DiVosta, the couple has owned multiple homes and townhomes in Abacoa. They appreciate the well-planned community near the stadium, the natural surroundings of the preserves, (filled with gopher tortoises) and the beautiful oak tree lined sidewalks, and petite downtown. The schools in the area have always been a big draw as well. John and Susan enjoy playing golf and John now plays at least 3 days a week. “We are a golfing and baseball-playing family,“ Susan says. “We love watching our son Cody play baseball.” John gets involved in the local arts scene by volunteering for ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival in the beer tent.
