The work, created by a community of jewelers, raises awareness of the connection between mining, metalsmithing, activism, collaboration, and art. It involves volunteer “miners,” “smelters,” “refiners,” jewelers, and metalsmiths working together to create a new and transparent supply chain. RJM relies on local “mines” – donated jewelry – as a source of “raw” material. The donated jewelry is then deconstructed to the original components, and reconstructed into wearable works of art by artists, students, and professionals. All of the one-of- a-kind jewelry on exhibition will be available for purchase. 8TH ANNUAL PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL (March 14 - 20, 2021) The 8th Annual Plein Air Festival is known to be the premier Plein Air Festival in the Southeastern United States. The festival has been revamped to meet our current times. Twenty-four national award-winning artists have been invited to exhibit their fresh works in the gallery and online during this highly anticipated celebration of representational art that captures our environment as history in the making. Participants can get involved virtually or in-person in this non-stop, weeklong festival. The festival kicks-off with an in-person Paint Out Competition at the beautiful Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. The artists will then paint en plein air (outdoors) in picturesque locations throughout the country, competing against one another for cash and prizes. ​Art enthusiasts have the opportunity to learn from the most highly regarded plein air artists in the country through live demonstrations and workshops. One-of-a-kind art can be purchased at the gallery or online through a virtual catalog and online store. Competition pieces will be available for sale Friday, March 19, after a live-streamed awards ceremony.
