Palm Beach North’s first responders were honored with three awards: Community Service Awards, and Call of the Year for Police and Fire. Here are the honorees: COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD A medical diagnosis confirmed Lou could no longer fight fires, yet he continued to dedicate his life to fire rescue in a new role. Deputy Chief Volunteer Division Louis Giarrusso, North Palm Beach Fire Rescue CALL OF THE YEAR – POLICE Officer David Joy saved the life of a man that was ejected from a vehicle and completely severed his arm. Officer David Joy, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department CALL OF THE YEAR – FIRE High Angle Rescue Incident where three different departments worked together to save a window washer in danger.
