Abacoa & Alton Neighbors May 2020
M a y 2 0 2 0 | Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S 11 COMMUNITY NEWS Business in Palm Beach North, and the rest of the world, will likely never be the same as it was prior to COVID-19. During the last few weeks, we’ve all been forced to adapt our business practices and learn new ways to create and sustain our businesses. Through the daily-evolving pandemic, most businesses are now realizing the importance of digitalization and how it can boost not only clientele and reach but also help sustain our local economy. Like many other businesses in the region, our Chamber made the difficult decision in mid-March to temporarily close our doors to the public and move our Chamber operations online. As a result of COVID-19, we decided to postpone one of our premier arts festivals, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center ArtFest by the Sea at Juno Beach, among many other physical events scheduled through May. Even through all the negative impacts of COVID-19, we have not stopped working to create resources and solutions for our members and business community. In fact, our Chamber has learned that now, more than ever, we need to accept our physical limitations and innovate our practices with virtual events and networking, webinars, digital marketing and other remote resources. We believe this is the future of business, and we are using this time to shift our thinking and practices to best serve our members. Amidst a plethora of cancelled events and growing concerns over the quarantine from Palm Beach North business owners, our Chamber has implemented a number of innovative tools and techniques for our members to utilize. Our Chamber is already offering webinars and virtual events on social media and video conferencing platforms Monday through Friday each week, including Motivational Mondays, Wellness Wednesdays, Fitness Fridays and a Virtual Business Seminar Series on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have also moved our Business Savvy Women’s Forum and Power Networking online as virtual events and are working on developing others. It is important to us that our members continue to receive the value of their membership, which is why all our virtual events and webinars feature guest speakers from the Chamber’s own member businesses. We have also made it a priority to provide our members with access to key national, state and county officials. We hosted a Chamber exclusive conference call with Congressman Brian Mast, who provided an update to our Chamber members on recent actions from Congress and the Administration in response to COVID-19. Chamber members were also invited to join calls with Sen. Scott and Gov. DeSantis, as well as other local representative conference calls. In addition to virtual events, we are continuing to host regularly scheduled committee, council and Board meetings through video conferencing. We have also built a COVID-19 business resource page on our Chamber website to provide helpful updates and information on disaster loans, crisis management, corporate aid tracking and economic impact survival tips. Now, more than ever, is the time to make sure we support each other. We are here to be your voice, represent our businesses, sustain business, and be a part of a robust plan for recovery Our primary focus is to do everything in our power to support our members and business community so that we can come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.
