Virtual learning has become the new normal and Palm Beach County offers some amazing opportunities to entertain and educate your child (and yourself!) every day. We’ve compiled some local resources to continue your child’s education at home and help them virtually explore some of their favorite spots around town. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: While their campus is closed to the public their innovative educators have moved their programs to the online environment so they can help contribute to the education of eager minds of all ages. Tune in on Facebook at 2pm Monday through Friday and 11am Saturday and Sunday for live programs. For additional activities, check out their Kids Fun Zone for coloring and activity pages. South Florida Science Center and Aquarium: Join the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium for Virtual Science. The Science Center is offering live Aquarium programs on Facebook every Wednesday at noon and live science demos and lessons every Friday at 3pm. Additionally, check out virtual “Science Shorts” and DIY at Home science experiments every Thursday at 2pm. For your future scientist, check out their storytime every Tuesday at 9am. Each weekday, you can look forward to exclusive footage featuring some of the most colorful and animated animals at the Zoo! New episodes are added frequently and are seen on the zoo’s Facebook and Instagram pages. In addition, supplemental materials and a short quiz with a chance to win tickets to the Zoo will be available on the Zoo’s Activities page: https://www.palmbeachzoo.org/ activities Busch Wildlife Sanctuary: While closed to the public, their mission of wildlife rescue, rehab, release and education continue! You can still be involved with the Sanctuary on social media and join them for their virtual programs on Facebook and get some educational activities! The campus is closed to the public right now, but their educators, known as manatee masters, invite you to take a virtual step into the world of manatees and Manatee Lagoon through the following educational resources. • Watch brief 1 – 5-minute videos on their website to hear from one of the manatee masters, and occasional special guests, as they answer some commonly-asked- questions and discuss what they see at the center. • Manatee Cam - View current conditions in the warm- water discharges of FPL’s energy center at Manatee Lagoon. The most ideal manatee viewing opportunities occur during cold weather, but you never know what you might see. • Virtual Field Trips - We are evaluating opportunities for upcoming virtual events.
