Abacoa & Alton Neighbors - May 2021

SEPTEMBER 12 Loggerhead Triathlon @ Carlin Park NOVEMBER 5, 6, 7, 2021 Feast of Little Italy @ Downtown Abacoa NOW THROUGH MAY 27 Lighthouse ArtCenter inspires the senses with “Stitched,” an exhibition celebrating the art of textiles. Collections from textile artists will be on display including Kirk Ke Wang’s, “Landscape of Human Skins.” Ke Wang’s work incorporates abandoned pieces of clothing, or “skins,” left behind by humanity through a series of large-scaled colorful, mixed media collages. He utilizes clothing worn by refugees and others to create a story of meaningful, thought- provoking compositions. In contrast to these large-scaled pieces, gallery visitors can explore the diversity of textile art through the work of several distinguished artists’ weavings, embroideries, quilts, tapestries and more. The exhibition is available in- person and virtually with all textile art available for purchase. Admission is free to members and $5 for non- members. For more information, visit lighthousearts.org . MAY 27 Business is Back @ the Ballpark Think: Business summit meets community fair meets baseball game.
