M a y 2 0 2 1 | Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S 19 RESIDENT FEATURE Submitted by Heather Storm Photos by Neil Cohen Photography Jason and Emily met in Genetics class at the University of Central Florida and were married on June 5, 1993 in St. Augustine - barefoot and on the beach. Emily graduated with a liberal arts degree and Jason with a double major of Molecular Biology and Microbiology, both from UCF. In 1994, the couple moved to San Francisco, where Emily worked for the Gap, Inc in the corporate offices as an Operations Manager and Jason took a job at Maxim Healthcare in medical staffing sales. After having 2 daughters in SF they moved back to Orlando, FL where Jason started working for GE Healthcare. Soon their 3rd daughter was born. Jason worked at GE Healthcare for 15 years. After 16 years in Central Florida, they made the big move back to California, but this time to Southern California where Jason joined start-up ePreop, a Healthcare IT software company. After 4 years, Jason switched industries and worked for the Lennar Corporation – selling US homes to international buyers across the globe. Emily was able to stay at home and raise the couple’s three girls while becoming very active as a volunteer at St. James Cathedral School and church, and Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, where all three girls attended and excelled in academics and athletics. Ellen, the oldest, graduated from the University of Miami and the Frost School of Music with a Music Business and Marketing degree and moved to San Francisco to work for an innovative, Culinary branding and strategy firm. She is now attending FAU and working on her Post-Baccalaureate degree in order to go to medical school.
