RESIDENT FEATURE Submitted by Heather Storm Photos by Neil Cohen Photography Matt and Katharine (Kat) Boris, both being in the hospitality industry, met while opening a new resort near Walt Disney World in Orlando nearly 9 years ago. During this period and while working a significant amount of time together they quickly became great friends and remained so for numerous years before deciding to finally give dating a “go”. Ultimately, after all that time of Matt trying to wear Kat down, it inevitably worked. Katharine and Matt dated long distance for some time as Katharine had relocated to Charleston for work and Matt made the move to Jupiter. The long distance eventually got to them and Katharine joined her future husband in Jupiter. And now today they call New Haven, Abacoa their home. They are the proud fur-parents to the light of their lives - Henry Boris, a two year old mini goldendoodle. Katharine and Matt decided to become dog parents shortly after their wedding. Both being allergic to pets did not stop them and they researched to find the perfect pup that their allergies could handle. A few days after returning from their honeymoon they put a deposit down with Country Mini Goldendoodle Farm in Ocala Florida. Due to work and busy schedules they ended up facetiming the breeder to select their new family addition. Within not even five seconds, they had picked Henry. Henry loves playtime with other dogs, going to the beach and staring out the family’s front window at his neighborhood. Matt, who grew up in Springfield NJ, attended Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey and graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management. Growing up, Matt’s family owned a restaurant and catering business, so it was a natural path for him to work in hospitality. Since graduation, Matt has had a very successful career in the hotel industry – growing his career while working at hotels in New York City, Charleston, South Carolina and Orlando, Florida. Matt currently works for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and is based in Jupiter.
