N o v e m b e r 2 0 2 0 | Abacoa &Alton N E I G H B O R S 23 their fur-son, Henry. Whether it’s at the beach or just in their backyard, Henry is always the center of attention. The couple moved to New Haven in March of 2019 and chose the neighborhood for its charm and neighborly feel. They found a home they loved and took several months to complete a full renovation, wanting to make certain their home was a true reflection of them and the life they share together. Kat of course was all about making the kitchen the focus since her passion is cooking and Matt had to make sure the backyard had a chipping area and putting green. While the renovation took longer than they wanted, they could not be happier with how it turned out. “We have the BEST neighbors - Hi Todd & Lisa, the Hahn’s and the Donovan’s!” says Katharine. “I loved this neighborhood from the moment I moved to the area. I would drive through it to visit friends and see families out-and-about together and knew this would be a great place to set down some roots.” The couple loves the holidays and Katharine has said she has enjoyed living in a community that has as much fun with them as she does. “We love seeing everyone’s decorations from October to December! I get so much joy and inspiration for our own house from them” she says. Still newly-weds, the couple got married in November of 2018 and spent their honeymoon driving the coast of California. Matt got to play some of the courses, such as Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines while Katharine went horseback riding and enjoyed the outdoors! They look forward to an annual vacation to Long Beach Island in New Jersey to spend time with Matt’s family, who still lives in the Northeast, at their beach house and to celebrate Kat’s birthday. The couple also attends St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. “We love to meet new people and enjoy getting to know our neighbors.
