The Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC) in Tequesta is unveiling a fresh new exhibition sure to delight art lovers of all ages. Titled “Delicate Expressions,” the show runs through November 15, 2025, and pairs two distinct forms of art unexpectedly and engagingly. At the heart of the exhibition are 18 vibrant, botanically inspired paintings by award-winning Florida artist Karen Tucker Kuykendall. Known for her imaginative spin on photorealism, Kuykendall brings Florida’s native flora to life—often weaving in surprising elements like doodled cartoons or the deep blue eyes of a Siamese cat. “Painting is my meditation—my calming grace,” Kuykendall shares. “I like my images to read like novels, full of layers and subplots, some bold and others more elusive.” To complement her work, LAC held a nationwide open call for contemporary jewelry artists. The result: more than 50 finely crafted pieces that are far more than decorative accessories—they’re intimate expressions of storytelling, nature, and personal meaning. “This combination of painting and art jewelry is a perfect opportunity to see how artists are expanding our ideas about what both jewelry and paintings can be,” said Anthony Record, Curator at Lighthouse ArtCenter. “Each medium can uniquely tell stories with surprising twists and details.” An Artists’ Reception on Thursday, October 16, 5 - 7 p.m. — will shine a spotlight on the jewelry artists and offer visitors a chance to engage with their creative process. Guests can meet the artists and enjoy signature light bites in the gallery.
