Recently, senior officials of the U.S. Department of Education visited the College’s Public Safety Training Center and saw firsthand the significance of these programs in action. U.S. Department of Education Undersecretary Nicholas Kent, U.S. Deputy Undersecretary James Bergeron, and Florida Department of Education Senior Chancellor Kevin O’Farrell visited Palm Beach State during a tour of Florida colleges, witnessing the tremendous impact on our community’s workforce and well-being. For every 100 first responders working in Palm Beach County, 85 complete their training with Palm Beach State. Hopefully, you’ll never require these services. But, if you do, know that the care you receive comes from the College’s highly trained graduates as well as the generosity of those who support its Public Safety program. Palm Beach Dramaworks –Theatre to Think About Vineland Place WORLD PREMIERE By Steven Dietz Directed by J. Barry Lewis May 15-31, 2026 Do you love to curl up with a gripping mystery? Do you binge-watch British whodunnits, seek out movies filled with suspense, or gorge on true-crime podcasts? Do you particularly enjoy the intricacies of a psychological game of cat and mouse? If your answer to any of the above questions is an emphatic “yes,” Palm Beach Dramaworks has a play for you: the world premiere of Steven Dietz’s Vineland Place . The play was first seen at PBD as a reading during the 2025 Perlberg Festival of New Plays. In this two-character play, young writer Henry Sanders seems to have found the perfect job: finishing the long-awaited final book of the nov- elist who was his hero. Hired by the novelist’s widow, Henry finds himself instead in the midst of a rapidly developing mystery. Vineland Place is an intimate thriller, filled with dangerous sur- prises to the very end. Steven Dietz is one of the nation’s most popular and prodigious playwrights. His 40-plus plays and adaptations have been seen at over 100 regional theatres, as well as Off-Broadway and in 25 countries.
