Salzberg Gallery is a local hub for artistic expression and cultural exchange, providing a platform for diverse voices, creative endeavors, and various exhibitions from international to local artists and student showcases. Admission is free. lesson at the YWCA in New York City. Today, the Palm Beach artist continues to create, demonstrating her contemporary style through collage, painting, sculpture, and other mediums. However, Helen’s earliest artistic expression was quite simple, inspired by an artist on a farm where she lived. “This man was the best artist and teacher I knew and showed me the importance of creating background in art, something I’ve shared with Brittany. Now, I’ll see something in my artwork, change it and so does the entire piece. But that’s how it is with art. So, when people tell me they recognize my work, I take that as a great compliment.” Experimenting with her own creative prowess over the years, Brittany eventually found herself completing ambidextrous continuous line drawings, exactly what that sounds like. “My message in those drawings is about capturing the moment and the two-handed technique more than the finished product. With that, I lean into my intuition and the art takes me, showing the integrity of the continuous line and allowing for imperfections, which can make a piece more interesting.” After the initial drawing, Brittany typically adds color, bringing vibrant energy to her work. Exploring concepts of presence, identity, and impermanence, she sees her work living at the intersection of art, style, and performance. On the doorstep of their first exhibition, the artists have already started dipping their collaborative brushes in their next project: Japanese art and the Seven Lucky Gods. While Helen plans to paint, Brittany envisions interpretations on clothing and canvas. A new challenge for her, she is excited to venture outside her comfort zone. In fact, thirty- something Brittany often strives to keep up with one hundred- something Helen. The Palm Beach Gardens Gallery that bears Helen’s name is part of the Helen M. Salzberg Center for Visual Arts, which also supports Palm Beach State’s Visiting Artist Fellowship, now in its third year. The Gallery serves not only the College but also the Palm Beach County community, home to a myriad of artistic venues. The Ann Norton Sculpture Garden is where you might find Brittany, who also appreciates the area’s open studio spaces for young local artists. While Helen admires the Dreyfoos School of the Arts and the tremendous talents of its students, she would like to see more facilities fostering the skills and creative minds of older artists as well. A reminder for the individual and cultural importance of the arts, Brittany offers, “We all get to experience where art takes us, and that’s a gift.” Brittany’s words are also a subtle reflection of Helen herself, a person with a generous heart, sharing her craft with great joy, truly the gift of an artist. For Helen Salzberg and Brittany Praver, their exhibition is sure to deliver what we’re meant to see and feel for ourselves through the creative expression of two remarkable partners in art.
