Palm Beach North Sports - December 2021

D e c e m b e r 2 0 2 1 | P A L M B E A C H N O R T H SPORTS 15 The figures are staggering. Nearly one out of five deaths in the world of children under the age of 5 are due to water- related illnesses. About 1 in 10 people across the globe do not have access to safe drinking water. Young girls are most impacted by this, as girls under the age of 15 are twice as likely to be the family member responsible for fetching water, depriving them of the opportunity to go to school. What has always stood out to me about go.build.love is the organization’s true desire to change the lives of those who do not have access to clean water. The passion for the mission extends to every member of the board and there is always a sense of urgency to help as many people as we can. In fact, every board member is expected to go on an “expedition” to a place like Haiti to grasp, firsthand, the need for what we are doing. An expedition, or short-term mission trip, will not just change to lives of those needing help, but it will also change the lives of those that choose to go. Even in the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic, go.build.love has not backed down. We have traveled to Haiti several times for water filter distributions, follow- ups, and even a building project. In March 2021, a team constructed an additional building at our Dream Center which serves as a clinic and church in the village of Bayonnais, Haiti. We will not stop until there is no place left in the world without access to clean drinking water.
