14 P A L M B E A C H N O R T H SPORTS | S e p t e m b e r 2 0 2 3 On Wednesday, July 19, the Keiser Athletic Department announced its Student-Athletes of the Year for the 2022- 23 season. Swimmer Camryn Hudson and running back Marques Burgess were selected as this year's recipients for their achievements in the pool and on the field. This past season Keiser Athletics recognized 76 Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Week and 18 Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Month. This year's nominees for Seahawks Athletes of the Year were comprised of this past season's Athletes of the Month and major award winners. Hudson was a big factor in the Keiser women's swimming team's repeat as National Champions. Hudson claimed six of the team's 48 All-America honors while being named the 2023 NAIA Swimmer of the Year. The native of Boynton Beach, Florida, placed first in every event she competed in during the NAIA National Championship while setting two national records. A 2023 CSCAA Scholar All-American, Hudson was also named a First-Team CSC Academic All-American. Burgess, the 2022 Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was an NAIA All-American, who finished the year with 1,217 yards rushing on 243 attempts. The native of Fort Pierce, Florida, finished second in the conference in rushing (No. 8 in the NAIA) while scoring 13 rushing touchdowns (No. 3 in the conference and No. 14 in the NAIA). His play helped Keiser claim its fourth straight conference title as the two-time SUN Offensive Player of the Week and one-time NAIA award winner finished his career as the school's all-time leading rusher (4,872).
