Built in 2016 by Florida Power & Light Company, Manatee Lagoon was designed with a clear purpose in mind: to educate the public about manatees, Florida’s environment, and the relationship between clean energy and wildlife conservation. Over the past decade, that mission has resonated with visitors near and far. To date, more than 1.4 million guests have walked through the doors of Manatee Lagoon, making it one of Palm Beach County’s most popular free, family-friendly attractions. Manatee Lagoon features interactive, hands-on exhibits that invite visitors of all ages to learn about manatees and the natural wonders of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon. During the colder months, the observation deck becomes the star of the show, offering up-close views of manatees gathering in the warm-water outflows from FPL’s adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center.
