West Palm Beach March 2026
M A R C H 2 0 2 6 | W E S T PA L M B E A C H 9 For decades, manatees have followed this warm-water route, a path passed down from mother to calf over generations. The best time to catch a glimpse of these gentle giants is during Manatee Season, from November 15 through March 31, when water temperatures dip below 68 degrees. It is a uniquely Floridian experience and one that keeps visitors coming back year after year. “For ten years, Manatee Lagoon has brought together locals and visitors alike to celebrate the beloved Florida manatee,” said Meredith Rollo, manager of Manatee Lagoon. “FPL constructed Manatee Lagoon to inspire communities to preserve and protect Florida’s wildlife for future generations, and we hope the center continues to play that role for many years to come.” Beyond manatee viewing, Manatee Lagoon has built a reputation for thoughtful, engaging programming that brings the community together. Over the past 10 years, the center has supported more than a dozen rehabilitated manatee releases and hosted countless events that celebrate conservation and connection. Its signature annual event, ManateeFest, draws thousands of attendees each year, while seasonal celebrations and the Manatee Season Kickoff mark the rhythms of the year. Weekly educational programs are at the heart of Manatee Lagoon’s impact. From Manatee Tales Story Time to Lectures at the Lagoon, these offerings have welcomed more than 118,700 attendees since 2016. As a certified autism-friendly business, Manatee Lagoon prioritizes accessibility by offering free sensory kits, seasonal sensory- friendly hours, and social narratives to help families prepare for their visit. Leading these experiences are the Manatee Masters, a passionate group of educators and guides who spearhead tours and programming throughout the year. Over 55 Manatee Masters have shared their love for ocean conservation with visitors, some of whom once visited Manatee Lagoon as children themselves. As Manatee Lagoon looks ahead to its next decade, its role remains the same: inspiring curiosity, fostering stewardship, and creating meaningful experiences that connect people with Florida’s wildlife. After 10 years, it is clear that Manatee Lagoon is more than a place to see manatees. It is a place where education, community, and conservation come together.
