Facilitated through partnerships among the Business Development Board, the City of Boca Raton, the State of Florida, and Florida Atlantic University, the relocation establishes a significant private-sector presence in the region. D-Wave will be based at the Boca Raton Innovation Campus, a site with a legacy of technological advancement. Academic institutions are advancing in parallel. Florida Atlantic University has invested $20 million in a D-Wave quantum system, becoming the first university in Florida to host an on- site quantum computer. Palm Beach State College is launching a Quantum Innovation Center, supported by nearly $7 million in state and federal funding, to expand research capabilities and workforce training. A key priority has been workforce development and long-term ecosystem planning. Secured by Congresswoman Lois Frankel, the Business Development Board was awarded $1 million in federal funding to support talent pipeline initiatives as Palm Beach State College develops curriculum for the new center. At the state level, the BDB was also selected to lead the development of a statewide Quantum Asset Map to identify and align Florida’s resources in this sector. Ongoing collaboration with higher education leaders, the School District of Palm Beach County, and industry partners continues to strengthen regional alignment. This coordinated approach is attracting global attention. In partnership with SelectFlorida, delegations from 17 international markets have visited the Business Development Board to learn about and engage with the region’s growing quantum ecosystem. Quantum represents a significant shift in how industries will operate and compete. The Business Development Board is advancing a deliberate strategy to ensure the Palm Beaches play a leading role in that transformation—grounded in investment, partnership, and long-term economic vision.
